Guest speakers: Professor Andrew Baker, Centre for Cardiovascular Science; Dr Gareth Williams, Marks & Clerk and Sue Bruce, Edinburgh Innovations.
This IP webinar starts with Sue providing a short introductory update on how Edinburgh Innovations provide support to researchers in the protection of IP and in the commercialisation of new technologies.
Gareth then provides an overview on: who holds the key CRISPR IP; when you might need a licence; when to consider applying for a licence; what to do with your own IP; what might be protectable; how to use it to add value.
Andy then shares his recent experience of IP commercialisation from an academic perspective. How his research group are using CRISPR technology to progress research towards developing a therapeutic treatment for vein graft failure associated with cardiovascular disease.
